Memorial Day

Don't forget that school is closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. Take a moment to teach your child the meaning of this day. Join your SFX friends at 10am in the St. Joseph's School parking lot as we prepare to march in the Wilmette Memorial Day Parade. The parade route ends at Village Hall. All SFX families and friends are welcome!

It's not too late for camp!

Athletic Permission Form

Before any 5th-8th grade student athlete is allowed to participate on an SFX team during the 2013-2014 academic year, a form must be on file indicating that his or her physician has confirmed eligibility. Please complete the Athletic Permission form, include a signature and stamp from your pediatrician's office, and return it to the school office before your child's first practice during the fall, winter or spring season next year. One form is good for the entire year and multiple sports.

One Heart Shoe Collection

Don't forget to bring your gently used shoes to morning drop off on Friday. Members of the 6th grade girls' One Heart Club will be waiting outside to collect your donations beginning at 7:55am. All shoes collected from this and last Friday's event will be shared with the families of Galette-Chambon, Haiti. Thank you!

Children who celebrate a birthday this month are invited to dress down tomorrow (Wednesday). Room parents will coordinate birthday treats for all K-8 classrooms. Happy birthday!

Athletic Registration Reminder

All incoming 5th-8th grade students who wish to participate on a St. Francis Xavier School athletic team next year are asked to complete the attached 2013-2014 Athletic Registration Form. Please complete one form per child in your household, indicating which teams your child hopes to join and the corresponding fees due for these teams. You may type directly into this form, then print, sign and return form(s) along with payment made toSFX Athletics.  Please return your form(s) and payment to the school office no later than June 6th.  Stay tuned for more information about medical/permission forms that may also be required prior to the sports season next year.  Questions? Homemade Pizza Night

Mark your calendar for pizza next Wednesday night, May 22nd, when the Central Street/Evanston Homemade Pizza store will donate a very generous portion of all sales made that evening back to SFX School. Stock up on gift cards for the summer months as well, as 10% of all gift card purchases will be donated to our school. Tell your friends and neighbors, as ALL sales through this Homemade location count toward our total. Learn more here.

Family Action Network Liaison

FAN is a non-profit organization that serves preschool-through 12th grade parents across the Township by bringing national-caliber speakers to the North Shore to address a range of highly-relevant parenting topics. SFX is looking to forge a formal partnership with FAN to provide increased access for the SFX school community to its highly-regarded speaker series. If you already attend 1-2 FAN presentations each year, this is an easy way to give back! Please contact petrozzi@rocketmail.com if you are interesting in becoming an SFX/FAN liaison.  This commitment requires attendance at FAN board meetings plus 2 speaking events (of your choice) per calendar year. If several volunteers show interest, a team of SFX parents may share this responsibility so that only a minimal commitment of time is involved.  Learn more about FAN here.

Shoe Donations for Haiti

Members of the 4th grade One Heart Club will be outside at morning drop off on Friday, May 17th to collect your gently used shoes.  Donations will be delivered to the families of Galette-Chambon in Haiti. At the end of every school year, SFX invites interested families to purchase a brick in the school's Centennial Plaza. Bricks may be purchased by individuals or by groups of families, and may bear the names of students, families, or beloved teachers. 100% of every gift benefits the SFX School Endowment Fund.
