Greetings from Fourth Grade!

We have had quite the busy week and next week will be even busier. Next week is Catholic Schools Week (which is one of my favorite weeks of the school year) and there are a ton of events going on! Here is a schedule of events going on next week:

Science: Electrical Circuits unit test will be on Monday, January 23rd. Students are bringing home their science binders and supplemental books to study with this weekend.

Math: We continue to learn larger digit multiplication. Please encourage your child to practice his/her basic facts every night at home because that knowledge is the basis of the larger, more challenging problems.

Social Studies: We will begin learning about the Midwest region on Tuesday. We will also cover the history of Chicago at the end of that unit.

Reading: We have finished our guided reading books and to wrap up our lessons students are creating commercials for their books. All projects will be done at school. So far, students have been creating scripts and writing reviews for their books. I'm excited to see what the end result will be!

Our second states and capitals quiz will be next Tuesday, January 24th and will cover the following states:

Yesterday morning we introduced states and capitals quizzes. Fourth graders are required to memorize the 50 states and their capitals. We will have a quiz each week with the material building as we go (this week will be 6 states, next will be the same 6 plus 6 more, etc.) leading up to a 50 states and capitals test.

Our first quiz is next Tuesday, January 17th. Good Luck!
