Beep! Beep!

March was a movin' and groovin' month in Junior Kindergarten!

During March's "Things That Go" unit, students explored all sorts of transportation.  Crafts included spaceships, airplanes and tugboats.  Our Exploration Station allowed students to chart things that roll.  Using beginning Math skills, students counted and compared the length of names in our classroom.  We compared small, medium and large items and also sorted by color.

Each week, we are blessed to have Mrs. Elizabeth Chada teach our class the spring songs that we are learning for the Spring Sing Thing.  We love our music time!  In the classroom, we continue to use music to explore the rhyme and rhythm we hear in songs.  Our room is always filled with the sweetest gigles as we sing silly rhymes like Down By the Bay!

Dinosaur Fun at Home

IMG_6895Here's a fun idea handed down to us from another teacher.  We thought you might enjoy trying it out at home!

February

We have enjoyed being paleontologists and learning all about dinosaurs over the past few weeks. We started a KWL Chart about dinosaurs that shows “What we Know about Dinosaurs, What we Want to learn about dinosaurs, and What we Learned about dinosaurs.” This unique KWL chart is in the shape of dinosaur footprints on our wall! We learned and are still learning so much about our favorite creatures! See how smart your child is by asking them to explain the difference between an herbivore and a carnivore.

This week, we began to learn a song that we will perform in our Spring Sing
Thing, an Early Childhood concert that will be held April 29th ....more details will follow, but please mark your calendars!

In Religion, we learned all about the beginning of Lent and all about churches and had fun making our very own churches, which we brought home. We talked about items you can find in a church…crosses, stained glass windows, altars, bells, etc.

Have a fabulous weekend!
