Mr. McKenna has invited all students to dress down on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in appreciation for students' participation and leadership at the all school masses. No pajama pants, no ripped clothing, and nothing inappropriate as always.
Yesterday I attended a meeting at District 39 headquarters regarding H1N1 vaccination. St. Francis students are scheduled to receive the vaccine Thursday, December 17. This optional service is provided by Cook County and the vaccines will be administered by Cook County staff. If you want your child to receive the vaccine, please fill out the consent form found in the attached documents.
- The type of vaccine, shot or nasal mist, will be determined by the nurse administering the vaccine based on the information you provide on the consent form. - This service is for students of SFX only. Parents and siblings of students are not part of this program. - If you want your child to participate in the program, the school office needs your consent form by the end of the school day Tuesday, December 15. - If you have a problem printing the form, stop by the office and we will give you one.
If you have any questions, please call the office.
Mr. McKenna has posted an update regarding H1N1 shots on his Principal's Page. Please click here to see the announcement and to download the necessary paperwork.
Please note the following announcements and schedule changes. The information here and on the Principal's Page supersedes the information that went home in the flier on Monday.
Friday, October 2, 2009, will be a green-and-gold spirit day. Students are encouraged to wear green and gold clothing, and athletes should wear their uniform tops. All dress must be tasteful, and the usual rules (no pajamas, nothing torn, etc.) are in place. Jeans are allowed, and students do not have to wear any part of their uniforms that day.
Weather permitting, there will be a pep assembly on the field at 2:15 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend. There is no rain location due to the set-up for Showcase, so please check back here on Friday afternoon for any updates or cancellations due to weather.
Flex period will be in the last period slot on Friday to accommodate the pep assembly.
Please refer to the handout that went home on Monday for information about after school events. The JV football team will play at 6:00 p.m. and the varsity game is at 7:30 p.m.
Again, please check back here for any changes or updates.
The St. Francis OHP (Oral History Project) continues to collect first hand accounts of the immigrant experience in America and, also Vietnam era experiences. Some really amazing stories have already been documented, but Mr. Laackman is always eager for more people to come forward and have their story heard. Please contact Mr. Laackman if you have a story relevant to these two topics or if you know someone who does.
Also, a reminder that the artwork for the Doodle for Google contest is due on Monday, March 23, 2009.
There is an important message about Terra Nova from Mrs. Drehkoff located on the Principal's Page. Please read the message and feel free to contact Mrs. Drehkoff with any further questions.
Also, many of you have subscribed to our blog pages using the "Subscribe" feature located on each page. This feature was originally offered by Feedburner, and is now in the process of migrating to Google. You may notice that feeds come at odd times of the day, or maybe not at all. During the migration we will also not be able to access subscriber lists. Thank you for your patience while Google finishes this process, and be sure to check your child's blog page in the interim.
Tomorrow, Friday, October 17, 2008 is the Dress Down for Down's Syndrome fundraiser at St. Francis. Students are invited to dress down in exchange for a $2.00 donation. Donations will be collected by the homeroom teacher. Jeans are allowed, but ripped or revealing clothing is not.
Tomorrow, Friday, October 17, the recipients of the Torch Club awards (both the current group and the first group) and Student Council members will be having a Pizza Lunch courtesy of the Principal. We thank these young people for all that they do for SFX and we look forward to celebrating future Torch Club winners in a similar fashion.
Note: You can also subscribe to the Principal's Page, which is a separate feed than the NewsBlast. The subscription window is located on the Principal's Page and the set up is the same as it is for the NewsBlast, but you will only be notified when there is new content on the Principal's Page. It is recommended that families subscribe to both feeds.
