What a week!! On Monday the eighth grade unsuccessfully challenged the faculty for supremacy on the volleyball court. It was fun to watch! Wednesday we were all treated to our annual talent show, Crusaders Tonight. A big thanks to all of the folks who worked hard to make it happen. Last night the faculty feasted courtesy of our of school parents' delicious recipes. And today we are having our Winter Sports pep rally. SFX has spirit, that is for sure! On behalf of the faculty and staff, allow to me extend our thanks and gratitude for all of the generous ways our students and school families make us feel valued and loved. Be assured that our focus is , as always, on helping our students maximize their gifts and talents through their time spent in these hallowed halls. We feel blessed to be here!
Catholic schools week is a good time to reflect on the goals of Catholic education. Some of which come to my mind are: to prepare students for access to and success in the higher levels of education; to instill in our students an awareness of social justice and an obligation to work towards a more equitable society; to grow our students’ spiritual lives and their understanding of the Catholic faith; to help our students become more confident in their personal and moral lives; and finally, to open their hearts to God’s call in their lives. These are great and worthy goals. And they are not just for kids; do not all of us aspire to these same goals? It is hard to acheive these alone, but fortunately we have each other. The secret to our school's strength is in our willingness to work together, to share, and to listen to one another. This is a great way to live as adults and a great example for our children to see. Thanks to all.
