Costume Information

SFX Foy Irish Dancing Club Costume Information

1.) Dress Information

    * Please iron the SFX Club costume before a performance or feis.
    * Lands End Navy jumper should be purchased online at: Lands End. Description: girls' side pleat solid blended jumper, navy blue.
    * Take the jumper to Cleonardo Studios Incorporated (638 Anthony Trail Northbrook, IL 60062) to get the applique design pressed on. This will cost $4.
    * Dancers should wear black or navy bloomers under the dress. Please do not put long shorts or SFX shorts underneath. It does not look good with the dresses. Bloomers can be bought at any dance store.

2.) The Irish dancing “poodle” socks" can be purchased at http://www.irishshoes.com/ or from Donegal Imports (5358 W Devon Ave, Chicago, IL 60646). The poodle socks may look big, but if you wash them, they will shrink a little. They are supposed to stretch to the calf or right below the knee on the dancer’s legs.

3.) Soft shoes and Hard shoes can be purchased at http://www.irishshoes.com/ or at Donegal Imports as well. They are about $40-$50 depending on the brand. I recommend the Rutherford Cavan Soft Shoe.

    * If you do not want to purchase the soft shoes at this time, I ask that you try to find a pair of black ballet slips-ons so that the socks don’t get too dirty from the gym floor. Payless Shoe stores do carry black slip-ons (which I would prefer), but other shoe stores usually carry the pink. They run about $8-$10. No dancer will be allowed to participate without some kind of soft black slipper.

4.) Hair: The dancer’s hair must be pulled neatly away from their face with the sequenced headband that matches our silver pattern. Hair can be curled or put into braids.

    * Some dancers have purchased curled WIGS, which you can be purchased at Fantasy Headquarters for $60-$70 (A Fantasy Headquarters, 4065 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL (773) 777-0222) or online at http://www.irishstepdancingwigs.com/
I recommend the Jordan II or the Sinead.
