While focusing on providing the very best educational experience possible, to all SFX students, through the years, there have been attempts to add a little levity to school publicity now and then, too. One example is found in the SFX Parish bulletin, April 10th, 1938:
School Humor:
Said the teacher: "1871 is the date of the Chicago fire. Now put that down in your mental note book so you won't forget it."
Three hours later: A child approaches the same teacher's desk with a nickel, saying "Please, Sister, may I buy one of those mental note books?"
Then -
Says a budding mathematician from another room, "Five daze of school make one weak."
Hilarious!
The deadline for Showcase 2009 Live/Silent Auction donations has been extended, until August 30th, so that vacationing families don't miss anything. The donation form is attached - please call either one of us if you have any questions. Sincere thanks to ALL who have made a donation already, on behalf of our school's centennial anniversary!
Please look for the Showcase Sign at the Back To School BBQ next Sunday! We will have donation forms, for those who would like to make a donation at that event. We will have Raffle Tickets for our amazing Grand Raffle. AND...we will have Sign Up sheets for those who would like to help with Showcase as the countdown to October 3rd continues.
We extend a special welcome to all of the new school families this year! You may have heard already...but Showcase is our largest annual school fundraiser - and one of the best parties of the year - and we hope you will be able to join us for this salute to SFX School on October 3rd.
See you all soon -
